I am a Charlottesville realtor for Seniors or retirees. One of the main reasons I know that Charlottesville is ideal for active adults who want to enjoy the best of nature, solitude, and an intellectually stimulating community …. is that I live this life. And I’d love to share it with you. Here’s a little bit about my own journey to get here (and for those of you who don’t care…. please click another tab, I understand.)
Though there are Virginians who would dispute the term, I consider myself a native of Charlottesville Virginia because my family moved here when I was only 6 years old. I had the opportunity to grow up exploring the countryside from the back of a horse … a great way to appreciate the unique natural beauty of our area with its Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop, and also a great way to develop a love for our real estate properties. The equestrian community around Charlottesville is very supportive of one another and they allowed me to experience a real connection to the heart and soul of our history and community.
After my college years where I studied art at Miami of Ohio, I returned to Central Virginia to settle down and raise my family. My daughters grew up with horses and dogs, hiking and riding in the woods and pastures of the gorgeous nature that surrounds our special area. They were the lucky recipients of an education in the excellent schools of Albemarle County, where they were introduced to arts, music and an intellectual curiosity that was undoubtedly nurtured by our University of Virginia atmosphere.
I’ve always been involved in business of some type. For many years I trained and showed horses, hunters and jumpers. That path led me to buying and selling horses for clients such as trainers and horse owners from all over the country. Negotiating those transactions, arranging for the veterinary exams…. those skills directly translate to my current career in real estate where I negotiate contracts for my clients and arrange for inspections of homes, among many other things. Someone purchasing a horse wants a good solid deal from a great selection of options, and that’s exactly the sort of deal that my real estate clients want too.
As a side passion I’ve raised and sold dogs, and lately I’ve driven myself crazy learning the endlessly frustrating game of golf. In fact, I’m so hooked on the game of golf (pun intended) that I’ve developed a website especially for other people too, at Charlottesville Golf Communities. I’m a perfect choice if you’re looking for a realtor who can help you with a golf course home. Among my other interests are reading, photography, gardening, and ACC sports.
One aspect of my business that benefits you directly is my proficiency with internet marketing. (An e-Pro designation is an internet specialist certification). As you know the majority of buyers begin their search for a home online. My websites are popular with Sellers because I give them maximum online exposure for their listings. And they’re popular with Buyers who easily find and explore my sites to investigate properties for themselves. So yes, I stay very busy maintaining my personal websites and five blogs in order to keep a vital internet presence as well as extensive internet networking with other professionals across the country.
It’s important to stay connected to my own real estate community, and I have always been involved with our Board of Realtors, serving on many committees to shape the direction and offerings that we bring to the public. And I must mention that my SRES (Seniors Real Estate Specialist) designation required training in all aspects of the transitions that the “50 and better” generation is going through…. as if I didn’t know firsthand!
